With more people opting to follow a plant diet, even if it's just for the month of January, this webinar examines both the pros and cons of going vegan. Amanda explores the many health benefits of a plant diet, but also the potential pitfalls, including: - macro and micro nutrient insufficiencies, due to the form and/or compromised absorption of nutrients. - the volume of food needed to achieve sufficient calorie intake. - some ready-made vegan meals and meat-free replacements. - some of the health states which this diet might not suit. Amanda will explain how to avoid these potentially limiting features of a vegan diet, as well as discussing manageable ways to progressively reduce dietary animal-based foods (including easy swaps to make), in order to optimise the health-promoting effects of vegetables, legumes, fruits, grains and sea-vegetables.
