Physiotherapy with Acupuncture
Acupuncture Options: Traditional, Battlefield or Auricular
Description
Traditional Chinese and Western Acupuncture can be very useful as part of your treatment, to target neural pain and reduce muscular spasm in the body. All needles are single use only and disposed of appropriately in a sharp’s bin, along with disinfectant swabs used before and after acupuncture. Please ensure you have discussed the use of acupuncture with Amanda, in order to ensure there are no contraindications regarding your health issues. 'Battlefield’ Acupuncture is a really useful tool for acute/chronic pain relief, as used on the battlefield to allow soldiers to continue their job without the debilitating and often brain-changing effects of high-dose morphine. It's a quick and effective treatment taking around 20 minutes and can be added at the end of physio treatment for ongoing pain relief. The so-called 'needles' are actually tiny studs which are put around the earlobe, can barely be felt and kept in for 3-5 days. Pain relief is likely to be immediate. Auricular Acupuncture uses very small needles around the ear. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, the ear acts as a map representing the entire body. Stimulating specific points influences the corresponding body part, sending signals via the brain to reduce pain, restore balance and improve function. Very small needles are used and it can be useful to add during a physio treatment for additional effect. IMPORTANT: Please ensure you bring two medium-sized towels; if you have. a cold or other virus, please wear a mask to your session. If this is your first physio session, please ensure you've completed the Physio Consult form and bring it with you.
